The Christmas Entry
Christmas was a wonderful time at the Gamboa household this year. Mona’s brother, Kenneth, is spending time with us, and my parents came down for the holidays. So our Christmas is full of family cheer. Mona cooked a wonderful Christmas meal (which we all ate), and everybody was happy with their Christmas loot. Woodrow’s favorite toy was his new bike (which unfortunately he won’t get to use until spring); Emily’s, an American Girl bed for her American Girl dolls; Mom’s, a trainer for her bicycle; and mine, a tossup between my Texas A&M slippers, my Cosmos DVD set, and my Weird Al Yankovic DVD. We’re all very, very happy.
Of course, Christmas isn’t (just) about presents. My parents are very devout Catholics, and Emily is being reared as one, so we went to Christmas Eve Mass. It was magnificent. And the weather is absolutely perfect — snow on the ground, the temperature a little cold, perfect hot tub weather. It just does not get any better than this!
Christmas is also a time for reflection on the year that was. Mona and I wrote about some of the year’s highlights in our family newsletter (PDF, 7Megs). Our Christmas has been simply perfect. We hope your holidays are just as wonderful, and we wish you a terrific new year.
